Budget Friendly Fixes

Renovating your home and on a tight-budget? Looking to do some quick refreshes throughout the home and don’t need a full-service designer? Into design and learning about some design hacks? This post is for you!!! This week we are highlighting some of our favorite sources for those quick updates you can tackle yourself while ballin’ on a budget. I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again (as has the rest of the world) our homes and surroundings are SO important - now more than ever. After a LOT of time at home, I know I find myself craving those days in a different space even if that’s working at a coffee shop for a few hours just solely for a change of scenery. These small updates throughout your home can make the world of a difference in bringing a space to life and transforming a room, so know that a little goes a long way. We’ll be cheering you on from afar to explore some of these quick-refreshes!

Furniture Legs

Already have a sofa you love or a cute desk top with legs you can swap out? These little details make the world of a difference and can completely make an older piece feel new . This is also a great design hack if you’re purchasing a larger piece on a budget and love the body of the piece, for example a dresser, but want to swap out the legs to make the piece feel more unique to you.

Cabinet & Drawer Fronts

This one is definitely a bit more of a project, but really leads to a more significant impact! Same notes as above, whether you’re buying new cabinets from IKEA or wanting to refresh an old piece/ cabinetry with some new cabinet door/ drawer faces - updating this element will definitely bring an old space or piece to life. Refresh your kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom now, thank us later.

Sofa Slip Covers

Oh boy is this a good one. These brands make slipcovers for most big box store seating, and also upgrade IKEA pieces. Sofas and seating are one of the most costly, and important pieces in my opinion! These are the items to splurge on - so if you want to refresh, this is the perfect fix while you’re waiting to invest in a more long-term piece.

Hardware (that won’t break the bank!)

This is one of my favorite and most under-rated but impactful update - hardware! Throughout my life as I’ve lived in rentals, I would always swap out knobs on a bathroom vanity, closet doors, and even my kitchen to bring the space up to date a bit. Sometime the base of what’s in a space totally works, and its these little changes that give you that feeling of new.

Tiles (under $7/ sf)

Last but not least, tile! While this one might seem intimidating, and almost more of a ‘DUH new tile would refresh my space’, this is another one for those open to do a bit of work but don’t necessarily need a full-service designer. Maybe you moved into a newer build and the base of what's there works for you, but you want to make the space more your own. Yes, labor and tile install costs will be involved - but swapping out a backsplash tile or a bathroom floor will surely refresh space and make it feel more like your own space.
