San Diego Restaurants for the Design Lover

Love enjoying some good food? Love a good interior vibe while you’re eating? Do you also live in San Diego? This one’s for you! I don’t know about you but I love going out for a delicious meal… and of course a good interior experience. If I’m ever traveling or going out to eat and looking for something specific I pretty much always search “cute _____”…. anyone else with me? I’m (obviously) very influenced by my surroundings, so when I’m going out to enjoy a meal or see a friend or loved one I want to really soak up that overall experience and enjoy the space I’m in. I’m sure I’m not alone there, so we’ve rounded up some delicious spots to hit up here in San Diego for the foodie and interior lover. Plus we just love supporting these local restaurants, so why not show them some love, shall we?

  1. The Plot, Oceanside

We may or may not be biased here (you know, since we designed it ourselves and all!) but The Plot is a must-go-to. The most delicious, plant-based goodness you ever did taste and a warm but modern, edgy but sophisticated space. Chef’s Davin Waite & Christopher Logan are plant-based wizards in my eyes and I can confidently say there is not one thing I’ve tried and didn’t love. And if that wasn’t enough to get you over there, there’s a community-garden in the back of the restaurant AND they rock a zero-waste ethos. Badass plant-based food, amazing humans behind the restaurant, community-based, zero-waste, and a good interior. Okay I’m done! Check out more photos of this project here.

2. Jeune et Jolie, Carlsbad

Design by Bells & Whistles

Welp, I thought I died and went to heaven when I went here. This space is truly a slice of heaven and not one corner will dissappoint- I’ll let the photos of this space do the talking! This is an interior you can’t stop oogling over, and the food takes the whole experience up another level on top of that. Make a reservation, thank us later.

3. Campfire, Carlsbad

Design by Bells & Whistles

Fun fact: Campfire is riiiiight next to Jeune et Jolie, and the same designer, same restaurant-owner John Resnick. Clearly these peeps are doing something right (haha!) good interiors, good vibes, and good food make for an unbeatable experience. This is one of my all-time favorite spots in my personal hometown of Carlsbad! And yes, you need to get the s’mores.

4. Valentina, Leucadia

Oh just a little taste of the magic-maker (and a new friend of mine!) that is Alexis Garrett in one of my all-time favorite spots, Leucadia. This space is as if you stepped into your favorite go-to cafe yet also feels like an extension of the home - a spot you could sit down and stay awhile with your favorite humans. AKA you must go, meet your favorite humans, eat a yummy meal, and soak in this special interior.

5. Waverly, Cardiff

Design by Design 4 Corners

Oh well, HELLO! if you aren’t already drooling I’ll be shocked. Designed by local-design duo Design 4 Corners, this space evokes of a really special feeling. SO many dreamy details cover every inch of this space, and I mean every inch (the bathrooms… holy moly!!) This is the ultimate spot for the design lover, and a total treat - warning: you might think you’re on vacation when stepping into this space.

6. Serea, Coronado

Last but not least, this little gem in the heart of Coronado. This is another spot that feels so curated inside yet also like an extension of the home, with REALLY tasty eats, too. Oh and ocean views. This spot is a vibe and an experience you don’t want to miss.
