Solstice Styling Tips

HOWDY FOLKS!

As we gear up for two photoshoots coming up we are gathering all of the styling inspo we can get. It’s no secret that styling can transform a space and is what really brings a space to life. Styling up a space adds character, tells a story, and takes a space from being just “a place to live” to being an actual livable home. It’s important to note that styling isn’t just for photo shoots. Yes, for photo shoots, we try to minimize the daily clutter and display the cutest of home accessories, but it is still possible to keep your house looking nearly picture ready while also practical.

Here are our top tips for styling up your own home:

  1. Display items used in your day-to-day routine - a home is a home after all. Include those nicer dish or bath towels and cooking utensils. Utilize baskets and jars for organization. Think about keeping things tidy and relaxed while also being realistic.

2. There is nothing that will bring a space to life more than bringing in some greenery and florals. Have an overall neutral home? Not only will adding in some Mother Nature make a space feel more alive, it will also add in some natural and soothing pops of color. Bring some of the outdoors indoors!

3. Layering is so important when styling a home! Natural elements like woods and woven baskets or rugs provide texture and add a feeling of warmth. Play around with pairing together more solid-colored objects with an object of texture. These contrasts are what prevent a space from feeling flat.

4. Style up those countertops and shelves by pairing together objects of different heights and sizes. Have a tall planter or vase that looks a little odd standing alone? Place it side-by-side a smaller, shorter, or wider décor piece - that way the vase doesn’t look like a lone-soldier, and it also provides interest and variation for the eye.
